My A8 7-wt arrived very quickly and is a good-looking, well-balanced rod. Surprisingly light for a 7. I have to line up one weight, however, as it's a little stiff for a standard 7-wt line. But with an 8-wt line, it throws 60-70 ft pretty effortlessly. Good job, guys!22 April 2014

I recently purchased the A8 in 8'6" #5. I normally fish on the Ogden and Weber rivers in Utah and this rod is a game changer. This is reponsive, accurate, made my casting longer, and is just overall fun. I would definitely buy this rod again and again.22 April 2014

I recently purchased a 9'5wt A8 rod with a A4 reel. I was concerned with the quality, being so inexpensive. But all concerns vanished upon arrival. The rod has a very nice finish and a light feel. The reel is equally as nice. I've fished this rod/reel a couple times now. All I can say is WOW. This rod outperforms my $300 St. Croix rods and even a $500 Sage rod. It's very powerfull yet smooth and forqiving. The action of the tip makes for easy mending. The reel is also a joy to use. A subtle clicker(not to obnoxtious), large arbor for fast retrieval, smooth operation, and very nice looking. I am like alot of you reading this. Thinking I need the most expensive rods out there to cast well. But after fishing the A8 rod my opinion has changed. Buy this rod, you will not be disappointed. I bought this rod for the current sale price, but even at full price it's by far the best rod for the money.08 April 2014

Super impressed with the 10' 7-wt A8 I received. Good looking rod. This is the only rod I have ever been able to empty the spool with. 07 April 2014

Just received the A8 #4 10wt rod and it worked great. Tried it out on a rainy/breezy day & it worked as billed. No problem casting & picked up off the water with little effort. Will be looking at the 7wt A4 outfit for larger streamers & lite salt water fishing. Thanks. 30 March 2014

I've been looking for a 10' rod for nymphing and chose the A8 in 4 wt. The rod arrived today. I find it exceptionally light and responsive with a smooth action. The rod is meticulously finished. This rod will give me many years of service. Nice work Aleka! 28 March 2014

I recently purchased the Aleka A8 six weight fly rod. I purchased this as a new streamer rod. I received my rod in only three days and was thrilled with the look and feel of the rod. The smooth fast action was new to me but it handles a heavy 250 grain Streamer Express line and big streamer like a dream. I look forward to purchasing more Aleka rods. In the first ten minutes of throwing my new rod landed a 22 inch Weber River Brown.18 March 2014

Have already left comment re initial reaction to my A8 9ft 5wt fly rod but have,at last, used it for the first time "in anger"!! This rod is fabulous!! First thoughts were that it was a little"stiff" for delicate work (size 16 flies on light leader). Casting was, as expected from the "fast" action, a very satisfying experience but I did think I may have problems actually dealing with light tippet. Quite the contrary - from a fine casting tool, on the first take the rod seemed to change character and the action, although still "tippy", seemed to soften to protect the tippet yet remain powerful enough to subdue a hard fighting rainbow of about 3lb. This proved to be the case throughout the day. Needless to say, I am delighted with my rod and wholeheartedly endorse the company statement that this will become my "go to" rod of choice. I only hope that Aleka achieve the corporate success that their products deserve and become one of the "big names" in fly fishing.

What a breath of fresh air it is to call a company and speak directly to it's owner! Aleka's President John Openshaw is one of those rare people who seems to have time for everyone. We spoke for a good fifteen minutes about his groundbreaking #8 10 ft. masterpiece. I told him how last summer my brother-in-law Jeff brought it up to my summer home in Maine to fish for Smallies on the surface. We are both lefties of equal talent but Jeff consistently outcast me. Finally out of pity, he let me use his Aleka after lunch. What impressed me the most wasn't the extra distance but how light it was. Couple that with a good strong but and I was sold. Just picked up two for this summer and can't wait to use them - because I know what I'm getting. Thank you John for an exceptional fly rod that truly hits it out of the ballpark! Coupled with an unbelievable price/guarantee and you have an unbeatable Fly rod! 13 March 2014

I was impressed with the quality and preformance of the A8, 8wt. 10' flyrod I receintly purchased. It casts smoothly with great feel. Yet it has the power and preformance too deliver long soft casts and roll over a 5x leader and size 14 fly. It's a great rod at an affordable price.

Ordered an Aleka A8, 10’ 7 wt. and Aleka shipped same day. Due to the large ice and snow storm that buried the eastern half of the country slowing delivery companies, the rod was a few extra days in transit but it was well worth the wait. The rod has a nice feel and smooth action. Rod finish and attention to detail shows that this rod is a keeper.
With a break in the weather I headed out to NY to the Salmon River for some winter steelhead fishing. I do a lot of Czech nymphing and use primarily 10 and 11 foot rods. This A8 10’ 7 wt. is destined to be my steelhead rod. I rigged up pairing the rod with my Tibor Everglade reel and a 15’ leader tapered down to 4X with a size 14 PT tied on an Umpqua 260BL short shank competition hook. It was amazing; you could feel even the slightest tick as the nymph bounced through the rapids.
Short line fishing the A8 through some fast water I felt that solid bump and I was into a fish. The rod performed flawlessly. It is sensitive in the tip to feel what is happening underwater and also has plenty of reserve into the butt that allowed me to handle the fish with light tippet.
If you have been reading about these rods but are unsure, let me say, do it you will not be disappointed. Product quality, product performance and company performance are all top shelf.

I recently bought an Aleka A8 fly rod, the 9.5' 7 wgt model, with an eye toward bass fishing in my local home lake and a potential steelhead trip or two. It arrived in good time and in good order and appeared to be all that was represented in the ads. I loaded it with some WF7F line and a bass-sized streamer and took to the lake. I cannot have been more pleased with its performance. The rod casts very well with 7 wgt line, and after a couple hours with it, I think it will handle 8 wgt as well. It is significantly lighter feeling than my old 8wgt Loomis IM6 I had been using for bass. I cannot imagine a better rod for the money than this A8. 24 February 2014
